NATURE

In addition to the sky-blue ceiling, we added a skylight over the shower. At certain times of year, the sun shines down right into the shower at midday; at other times, sunbeams are caught by the beveled glass in the medicine cabinet mirror and reflect rainbows on the walls (an unexpected delight!). We chose iridescent blue and green tiles and silver tiles to accent the white tiles on the floor of the shower, to suggest the feeling of light sparkling on water.

We also used nature details, including sea shells, two sea "stars" (starfish) hung in the "sky," and a decorative tile with two leaping dolphins that looks like it comes from an ancient ruin.

Overhead, our ventilation fan--a practical necessity--shines like the sun while at night, our night light illuminates a moon.

We also used nature details, including sea shells, two sea "stars" (starfish) hung in the blue "sky," and a decorative tile with two leaping dolphins that looks like it comes from an ancient ruin.

Every time we enter our bathroom, these details remind us that we are, indeed, a part of the whole of nature.
